Welcome to Paradise!

The tropical island of Mauritius is world-famous for its pristine beaches and extensive coral reefs. The African Asia Pacific Choir Games will be a great opportunity for choirs from around the world to experience Mauritius’ beauty, culture and hospitality first-hand!

Due to the island’s location in the Indian Ocean and belonging to Africa, this event welcomes choirs from Africa and from the Asia Pacific Region alike, combining the already established Asia Pacific Choir Games with the African continent for the first time.

Port Louis, capital of Mauritius and host city of the event, is a lively place, where all venues are within easy reach. As an example, the Port Louis Old Theatre, the oldest Opera Theatre in the Southern Hemisphere, will open its newly renovated hall to the Choir Games in 2025!

Come and see for yourself what an islander once told the American writer Mark Twain: “Mauritius was made first and then heaven; and heaven was copied after Mauritius”.

Invitation

Dear Choral Enthusiasts, Distinguished Guests, and Friends from Across the Globe,

It is with immense pride and joy that I extend the warmest Bienvenue à Maurice! As we prepare to host the inaugural African Asia Pacific Choir Games 2025, combined with the prestigious Grand Prix of Nations Mauritius 2025. On behalf of the people of Mauritius and our government, I am delighted to welcome choirs, conductors, and music lovers from Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and beyond to our vibrant island nation—a place where cultures converge, and harmony finds its voice.

This landmark event celebrates the universal language of music, uniting non-professional choirs of all backgrounds and experience levels. Whether you are seasoned competitors or embarking on your first international journey, the Open Competition, Champions Competition, and Grand Prix of Nations offer every choir a stage to shine, grow, and even ascend to new heights. Here, the spirit of fair play and camaraderie will resonate as powerfully as your melodies.

Mauritius, with its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural tapestry, is the perfect setting for this celebration of diversity. As choirs from every corner of the world raise their voices together, we will witness the colorful mosaic of global choral traditions—a testament to the unifying power of music. Beyond the competitions, I invite you to explore our island’s pristine beaches, lush mountains, and warm hospitality, forging friendships that transcend borders.

To all participants, May your performances inspire, your collaborations flourish, and your hearts be filled with the joy of shared creativity. Let us create unforgettable moments of harmony, both on stage and off, in this little corner of paradise.

Choirs will sing a program of three pieces for a maximum performance time of 15 minutes in front of a panel of international experts. At the conclusion of the program there will be a brief internal consultation of the panel of choral experts. Finally, the program is discussed with the choir in an open and amicable atmosphere.
