The countdown to the African Asia Pacific Choir Games 2025 and Grand Prix of Nations officially gained momentum as the Local Organizing Committee (LOCICC 2025) celebrated several key milestones at a ceremony held on 4 September 2025 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Service and Innovation. The event, which was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Honorable Mr Deven Nagalingum, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to the success of the upcoming international event.

A highlight of the ceremony was the official launch of the competition’s mascot, which was unveiled through a special video presentation. The reveal was a symbolic moment, marking a new phase in public engagement for the highly anticipated games.

The event also saw the formalization of key sponsorship agreements, with representatives from six major organizations signing on as partners. Mr Atish Kumar Bundhun, Head Pharmacist from Planet Pharma(Hyperpharm Ltd), Mr. Yagianath ROSUNEE, Chief Technical Officer Networks from Mauritius Telecom, Mrs. Anita Khelawon,Head of Operations from State Bank of Mauritius, Mr. Kushal DINARAN, Chief Marketing Officer from Mc Donald’s, Mr. Harish Kumar Singh, Director MM from Olympia Sports, Mr. Dominique Filleul, Commercial Director from City Sports, and Ms Karishma GOPY, CMOz from Quality Beverages Ltd have all pledged their support, underscoring a strong corporate belief in the event’s mission of cultural exchange and artistic development.

In a segment dedicated to fostering local talent, the 12 finalists for the National Fresco Competition 2025 were announced. These young artists, who will contribute to the visual legacy of the games, were presented with the necessary materials to begin their final projects. The finalists represent a wide range of schools, including Beau Bassin SSS, Bhujoharry College La Tour Koenig, Bhujoharry College Rose Belle, College du Saint Esprit Quatre Bornes, Dukesbridge Trianon Secondary School, Eden College Boys and Girls, Gaetan Raynal SC, London College, Patten College Boys, Prof S. Jugesser D.A.V College Rose Belle, and Saint Mary’s College Rose Hill.

The ceremony also featured beautiful choral performances from the Mauritius Police Force Choir and Mauritius Recreational Council Group.
