In the wake of the 2025 Africa Asia Pacific Choir Games, scheduled for Mauritius from 27 September to 5 October, a delegation led by the Project Director of Interkultur, Ms Jelena Dannhauer, and the Artistic Director, Mr Michael Barrett, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Darmarajen Nagalingum, yesterday afternoon, at the seat of his Ministry in Port Louis. They were accompanied by the Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee for the International Choir Competitions 2025, Mr Giandev Moteea.
In a statement after the meeting, Mr Barrett expressed appreciation for the support extended by Minister Nagalingum towards the upcoming Africa Asia Pacific Choir Games 2025. He highlighted the immense cultural significance of the event which aims to bring together choirs from across diverse nations to Mauritius, thereby promoting cross-cultural dialogue and unity through the universal language of music.
He further emphasised that, beyond the competitive aspect, the Games will offer international participants a unique opportunity to explore the country’s natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, diverse cuisine, vibrant music, and heartfelt hospitality.
For his part, Mr Moteea expressed gratitude for the productive exchange held with Minister Nagalingum. He noted that a comprehensive work plan and roadmap have been established to guide preparations over the next five months to ensure a successful and impactful event.
The Interkultur delegation is currently visiting Mauritius in the context of the forthcoming Africa Asia Pacific Choir Games 2025 which will be held from 27 September to 5 October.
Mauritius will host the Games for the first time, which will bring together choirs from both the African continent and the Asia Pacific region, uniting two musical cultures under one international banner.
